Once i was crazy about the novels by MURAKAMI HARUKI, PAULO COELHO, AND PATRICK SUSKIND. At that time, their novels were very special and made me think about my life. Especially I can't forget the book, THE STORY OF MR SOMMER by PATRICK SUSKIND in which one little boy told the whole story about his childhood and a strange man who lived in his town. One day, when the boy and his father was driving in the rain, they saw mr Sommer walking in the rain without the umbreller. They tried to give him a ride but Sommer cried "let me leave alone!~" and then he disappeared. I think his yelling at them included his hope to be free. Anyway, last night I couldn't sleep well. The last scene in the book was came to mind. Ironically, In the movie, Total Eclipse, Rimbaud told Verlaine "Don't leave me alond"...

TGIF!!!~

It's Friday. I like Friday because I have happy weekends. However, the whether is so terrible and really cold and strong wind. I hate strong wind. It makes my eyes and hands get dry. In the class, I watched the movie, Julie and Julia, about cooking which is current unit. Nowadays I am interested in cooking and I think I can really do well if I learn about that. So I have a plan to take cooking class next summer vacation. I believe I can find my potential cooking skill.

Cheese cake!~

I love cheese cake. Maybe most of people will love cheese cake. Once we have, we can't forget the taste. When I went to Serendipity in NYC, I ate cheese cake with strawberry Icecream. The taste of rich cheese and fresh icecream was awsome and fantastic. I want to eat!~~~

Seasons Greetings

Chrismas is coming. On the streets there are many kinds of Christmas lights and tree. They make me happy and joyful.
In this picture, there is a sweet house covered with a lot of snow. Through the windows I can feel christmas mood. In Korea, when I saw this picture at first, I though It was very peaceful and beautiful. Surprisingly, I found this picture again on the Christmas card at Hallmark shop in America. Once I saw the card, I really wanted to buy the card. However, I didn't it because there were so many different beautiful cards. I couldn't pick just one style. For me Hallmark looks like a heaven filled with something attractive.

Hugh Grant

This is Hugh Grant, British Actor. I love him. I love his voice and his own accent. It's very attractive to me. Maybe I watched every movie in which he acted. This December, his new movie, Did you hear Mr. .....-I forgot the title, will release. I am waiting for his new movie. My favorite movie is "two weeks notice" among his movies. In that film, he was a rich and attractive man and he fell in love with a smart lawyer, Sandra Bullock. Actually, I watched this movie three times without Korean subs in Phillipine when I visited my friends. Although I couldn't understand totally that, I liked to watch that so I went to see the movie three times. Anyway, I will go to see the movie this December.

What's wrong with my metro card??

Yesterday, I inserted my metro card into machine on the bus to go to school but the machine said "read error" with red light. I tried to do again and again but it didn't work. The drive let me ride a bus saying "Don't worry. Sometimes metro card goes wrong". However I didn't want to feel guilty when I took a bus. So after school I dropped by the LI bus office to solve this problem. The officer said "I don't know. What happened to your card. Why don't you send mail to bus customer center with your card? They will solve it after they check your card". However, it takes 4 or 5 weeks and unfortunatelly I have to buy new one. My card's expired date is on 15th, december. It means I have to pay for my 11 days' fare. It is very bad thing. So I got angry because of my stupid metro card!!!!!

preparing Korean cuisin.

LINCC will throw a party on 14th, December. Every student should prepare their own native food for sharing them. After reading the notice I thought what I should cook Korean food that has to be deoicious and special. Frankly, I am not good at cooking although I like to eating^^ Many people have an idea about Korean cuisin; it is very hot and spicy. So I want to prepare something sweet for them. In Korea, the most famous snack is DDuck bockki which is made of rice cake and red hot paste and sugar. I will make it but excluding hot taste and adding sweet one. This week I will try to do that as a practice...

My lovely chocolate cookies box.

2 weeks ago, my best friend sent me a box filled with chocolate cookies and bars from Korea as my birthday present. When I opened the box, I couldn't stop smiling because there were many kinds of chocolate snacks. Consequently, I eat them every morning and every night. Keeping my diet diary can't prevent me eating them. They are so delicious thus I can't stand!! Right now, I have only one third of the box. I took a picture with my beautiful chips to remember them^^

lazyness

For a couple of months, I am so lazy. I can't get up early every morning or study hard after school or sometimes I miss something to do. December is coming but right now I don't do that. I usually spend time surfing Internet and watching TV show. I have to do what I must do with new month.

the Twelfth night or what I will

When I was younger, I liked to read Shakespeare's works which were a little difficult for me to understand them. They were really good. Especially, I preferred his comedy ones such as the twelfth night or what I will, Much ado about nothing, and the taming of the Shrew, to tragedy. After reading them I watched the movie of Shakespeare's. In the movie, I could listen to beautiful music made of his sonnet and see splendid customs of that time. Right now, I have a plan I will read his books in Englis because I think I can feel his literary style in English although he wrote an old language.

Happy Thanksgiving!~~

Today it was a national holiday, Thanksgiving which was my first one in America. My host family invited me and they served very delicious food such as turkey, cranberry jelly, mashed potato, and some kinds of korean food. When I learned about Thanksgiving day in Korea, I couldn't figure out that day. However, I can remember the date and the history as well as I know what kind of food they have. I think it is a kind of progressive education of method^^ Anyway Thanksgiving day seemed very importand day for Americans because Starbucks closed at pm 4 o'clock so I had to leave there. Next Thanksgiving day I am going to see the macy's parade. Maybe it will be fun.

That's what friends are for..

When I was a high school student, I had to stay at my school until 11p.m. to study. It was mandatory. Everyday I was exhausted and very tired because I styed there late from monday to saturday. At that time I could release my stress by watching tv, especially live music show. That was what I could do for me. One day, I was overwhelmed when I heard a song, That's what friends are for on the music show. The song whispered me "Don't worry. for good time and bad time I will be your side forever more. That's what friends for". I wanted to cry when listening to this song. These days I need another song to touch me.

While waiting for the train to Hempstead, I was reading a book about a Korean girl who was very cleaver and studied in Harvard univ. It was a great time because not only the whether was very warm and sunny but also the story was touching me. At the train station, I enjoyed my sweet time for 40 minutes. Sometimes, people can feel happy to do nothing special. Actually it was tough time for me to spend this week but the time saved me...

famous Korean food, Bibimbab

This is "Bibimbab" which is one of the famous Korean food. In the big bowl, there are so many kinds of vegatables and fried egg and rice and hot paste, called Gochujang and just mix them together. Bibim means mix and bab means rice in Korean so you can understand this dish easily. If foreigners ask me to recommend Korean food, I will choose this one without hesitation. In this picture, this is special Bibimbab, named Junju Bibimbab which is different from others in the bowl of material. Generally, Junju bibimbab is put on the Bronze bowl. It is very unique so it mekes this food famous. I want to have Bibimbab as my dinner..

so tired!~~

This weekend, I had to do many things so right now I am so tired... Today, it was the 37th birthday of my church so we had a special party. We sent invitation cards and prepared many kinds of food and cleaned up for this party. Yesterday, I decorated the church board until around 10pm and helped our church members to cook a lot of food. At the party there were many people to celebrate the birthday. Although I am tired, I am happy because it was a good time.

something stupid!!

Yesterday, Mamika and I went to the bus stop to take the bus, N16, after school. It was about 4:50 pm. At the bus stop, there were many students including our classmates wating for their buses. It was strong wind and very cold. While Mamika talked to her Japanese friend, I was talking with William about our dream and future. After about 20 mins, William asked us why we didn't take our bus, N16. When Mamika and I looked around the bus stop, we relized that we missed the bus because some students who take N16 disappeared. So we had to wait for our bus until 5:30pm. After William left, there were only Mamika and I and one student at the bus stop. We were very clumsy. We wondered how we din't see the bus arrive and students take the bus... Maybe we concentrated on our conversation..

Three Rivers.

This is the drama, "Three Rivers" on the CBS. I like medical drama very much so I usually watched the drama, "Dr. House" in Korea. However, I realized that it is very difficult to understand medical drama without substitle. The medical terms are very complicated and not easy to understand but I watch this show every Sunday night. In the drama, there are 5 main charachers; four of them are surgeons and the rest man is a donor cordinator. This show is dealing with donor's family and patients' life and story so sometimes the episode
is sad or touching me. Furthermore, one of the main characters, as you know the left man in the picture, is a Korean guy, named Daniel Henny. I am his fan so I like to see him on the TV. Why don't you watch this drama?? It's helpful to practice English..^^

Daylight Saving Time Ends

Finally, daylight saving time ends. So it is getting darker in the evening. When I was an elementary school student, we performed daylight saving time, called summer time, during summer season. I can remember that time. It was terrible and horrible system because I thought I couldn't sleep enough and had to get up earlier due to daylight saving time. Actually, it didn't efficent system for me. However, it doesn't bother me like that time right now. Anyway, I am accustomed to my American life.

The Phantom of the Opera

The phantom of the opera is my favorite musical, though I have never seen that. A few years ago, I read the book and watched the film. In the movie, It was filled with awesome and so beautiful songs and scenes. Especially, I like the song, All I ask of you, which the main characters, Christine and Raul, sung this song in the snow. I can't forget the scene. After knowing The Phantom of the Opera, I want to prefer the box seat when I go to concerts or musicals. In Korea I decided to go to Majestic theater in Broadway 42nd street to watch this musical but I don't go there yet. Before I leave for America, I will go to this musical.

worried about...

Thesedays I am thinking about my life and future. Every night I draw a picture about future and think what I should do here. Maybe it is a kind of homesick because I miss my family and friends and my life in Korea. In a book , How Starbucks saved my life by Michael Gates Gill, the author said "I remembered my mantra: Less past, more future." A few years ago, the author was a chief of an ad company but one day he got fired and left alone in a small apartment without his family. Although he worked in Starbucks as a register, he missed his beautiful past. Right now like him, I pursuit my past in which I was less poor and enjoyed my time and talked with firiends.. Tonight, I don't want to fall asleep late by worring about something.

Today, the weather was very nice. I don't like cold and windy weather because it makes me gloomy and depressed. Anyway I hope it will be sunny by november.
On wednesdays, I go to the church after school. Right now I am writing with church's computer but I am very starving. What can I have for my great dinner?? I saw some ramen, named Nuguri, in the kitchen a couple of weeks ago. I will try to eat that ramen. Actually, I din't like eating ramen in Korea because it is not helpful for my health and I din't think it tasted good. However, I often eat ramen since I came to America. The worship service is starting at 8:30 so I should begin to cook ramen... I wonder if my classmates have ever had Korean ramen and if so, they like it?

my wish list..

I have wish list where there are so many things such as a car, a house, ugg boots, musical tickets and delicious food etc. However, the 1st one is this piano from Steinway & Sons. When I saw this piano at first, I was falling in love with this. The sound is so beautiful as the appereance. Many famous pianists use this one on the stage due to its ausome sound. I want really really to play the steinway & sons piano..

eating a lot!~~

On sundays, I go to the church in Hempstead and I usually stay there utill 4-5 pm and then go back home. However, today my friend invited some people to the chinese restaurant. There I ate a lot of chinese food. I think he had to pay too much for us. Anyway, right now I am very happy because eating always makes me happy and excited. I will go to bed with joy..

the Toefl Test.

In this morning, I took the toefl test at adelphi univ. It was really boring and terrible test because it took about 4 and a half hours to test. I couldn't concentrate on the test after 2 hours and my eyes were very tired because I had to look at the computer monitor during the test. The 4th section was writing 2 essays but one of the topics was about TV programs which we have already written in the class a couple of weeks. However, it was difficult for me to complete the essay just for 30minutes. Time was flying like an arrow. Anyway, I hope I get good grade although I didn't study enough.

chocolate!~~

I really love chocolate. I like it is very sweet and it always makes me happy. Especially, I like almond chocolate. When I went to the whole food market to buy some grocery with my friend, there was some tested handmade chocolate. It was awsome so I took 2 more things. If I were rich, I would purchase a lot of chocolate. I hope...

The Lights

In my back yard, there is a swiming pool but I have never swam there. That's why I am afraid of water. 3days ago, after my dinner, I was washing the dishes when I found the color lights. I have ever not seen the lights in the back yard. It was very beautiful so I took a picture. My host mommy enjoys cleaning the swiming pool. I think she was cleaning there at that night in the beautiful lights.

musicians in New York City

I was hanging out with my classmete in Newyork city when we saw some men playing the instruments. We listened to the their music and took a picture. They were playing Jazz. One of the most favorite things in New York is that I can easily listent to the music on the street. Although they are not well-known musicians, their music makes me happy. Maybe they do what they want to do. Am I doing what I really want to do like them?

Korean Thanksgiving day, Chu-Seok

In my country, there are a few holidays. However, one of the most popular and big holidays is Chu-Seok. Right now, it is Chu-Seok in Korea. Almost people visit their parents and enjoy some special food such as Song-pyun which is rice cake and play some traditional game at night. Above all, people enjoy seeing the full moon by telling their hopes to the full moon. My parents and younger brother also visit my grandmother to meet other relatives. So I called my grandmother to say hello last night. I could talk with my relatives who gather there on the phone. I am missing them very much and I want to have a meal with them.

Fall is coming

Yesterday, it was rainy day. I think this rain tells us fall is coming. After a couple of months, winter will come with snow. It is said that time is like an arrow. When I was younger, I wanted to be an adult because I believe adults don't have to study, to do homework, and they can do everything they want to. However, I know it is not true as I am getting older. Right now, I sometimes miss my childhood. Will I miss this time after 10 or 20 years old? Maybe I will. To get my beautiful and valuable memory, I do my best at the present time.

goi cuon

In Korea, I have never cooked but I have to make my meals here.
A few days ago, it was my friend's birthday so I made goi cuon. I bought some rice paper, cooked shrimp, some vegetables, abocado, and peanut sauce for goi cuon. It was not difficult to make goi cuon than I thought. Also, I made salad and wine for our party and other friend prepared smoth Jazz. We enjoyed the birthday party until midnight.

SERENDIPITY

These are Serendipity's main deserts.

After St.Saints' Marching, my friends and I went to Serendipity but we had to wait for about 40 minutes. We waited and waited out of the restaurant to eat famous and delicious deserts. Finally, we sat around the table and we ordered 3 diffrent deserts- caffe mocha, frozen chocolate, and cheese cake with straw berry. They were really awesome. Actually, this restaurant was a setting of a movie, the title is Serendipity. So many people come here to see and eat. Why don't you visit Serendipity??

my favorite movie, "city of joy"

This is my favorite film. Patrick Swayze roled as an American doctor in this movie. When I watched this movie, I couldn't help loving this movie and Swayze. Although he died with cancer 4days ago, I can remind his films. It was mede in India as we know when we can see the setting in the poster. Patrick travelled to India but he was stolen and hurted by a robber. At that time, a man, passing by him rescued and took care of him in his house. It is story about their friendship. They became friends and helped each other. Above all, the film focused on Patrick's change. At the first time, he didn't like and understand India and Indian, but he loved them as time goes by. This movie inspires me to help the poor and visit India. Someday, I will go there.

about Van Gogh..

My favorite painter is Vicent Van Gogh. I love him and his works especially this paint called the cafeterrace (I don't know exactly english name). 5 or 6 years ago, I read some books about Gogh and his life. He committed suicide at his 30's. I think that's why he was very lonely. I think he wanted to stay with friends but he was very rude and sometimes treated other people unrespectedly. However it was his love and affection. So there was nobody around him except his younger brother, Theo who was his supporter. Painting was supposed to be his only friend. So his works look sad and gloomy but I love them.

I need a yoga mat!!~

Every sunday i do yoga at the church but i didn't but a yoga mat. So last sunday I borrowed someone's. This evening i went to "stop and shop" to purchase a yogamat but i couldn't find that. However, i bought some items - a notebook, 2 folders, roasted almond for my friend, and oatmeal tasted raisin, date and walnut. They costed almost $13. I don't know when and where i can buy a yoga mat. I am worried because Sunday is coming.
